Seyram Amanie-Adjei

I am Seyram Amanie-Adjei, a first year MPhil Aquaculture and Environment student at the Department of fisheries and Watershed Management, KNUST. My interest in aquaculture was a result of an opportunity to undergo a hands-on experience as an intern on a cage farm here in Ghana; shortly after which I undertook a research on tilapia cage culture in fish ponds, marking the beginning of my academic research journey.

I am personally fascinated by the big body size of the African bonytongue (Heterotis niloticus) hence I was elated to work with the species under the IPAG project. The present study on aspects of the biology and reproduction of the African bonytongue seeks to identify and document the environmental characteristics that stimulate its reproduction in the wild. I am particularly interested in investigating the water quality parameters, hormonal concentrations and nutritional characteristics that trigger the reproduction in the species. It is expected that the research will provide information that will contribute to efforts to artificially reproduction of the species.
